Director's Message
My name is Marci Derado and I, along with the staff at the Virginia F. Wood Early Learning Center, welcome you and your family to our program. Our building was completed in the summer of 2022, and we were almost full upon opening. At this time, we are in the process of adding an additional thirteen rooms to our building.
Who are we? Our building houses developmental preschool for those children who have special needs. We service over one hundred children with speech needs through drop in sessions. The building also houses the district’s infants through twos child care for district staff members. The threes and fours program is open to families residing in the district’s boundaries but enrollment is based on available space. More information about these programs can be found on the Programs tab at the top of the page.
Information about BAC can also be found on this page. BAC is the district’s before and after school care program. Each of the elementary schools and the intermediate school have BAC. We work hard to be sure children are well cared for in this program so space at each site is limited.
We use Creative Curriculum in our three and four year old classes. This is a nationally recognized inquiry-based curriculum focusing on topics that children can directly engage in. Our four year old classrooms also use Fundations for phonics which directly links to the instruction taking place in kindergarten through third grade. Infants through two year olds use a program created curriculum.
Feel free to contact us through the Contact Us tab at the top of the page.
Sincerely,
Marci Derado
Director of Early Learning
