Developmental Preschool
Westfield Washington Schools Developmental Preschool Program is for children who have Individualized Education Programs (IEP's).
Program Eligibility
Developmental Preschool is for children who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and is supported by licensed special education staff. Children learn, play, and have a snack while being supported toward meeting their individual goals. Inclusion opportunities for all children is our goal, and we strive to offer a continuum of services. The classrooms are supported by licensed special education staff.

Program Details
Our developmental preschool program provides AM and PM classes Monday through Friday. We follow the Westfield district school calendar and are closed on teacher work days, professional development days, school breaks, and weather related closure days.
- AM Developmental Preschool: 7:35 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
- PM Developmental Preschool*: 11:05 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
- Full-Day Co-Teach Preschool: 7:35 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.
*Students in the PM Developmental Preschool session have the opportunity to eat lunch at school. Families may choose to either send a packed lunch from home or purchase a school lunch by creating a meal account through the district website.
Annual Materials Fee
The 2026-27 annual material fee will be posted here soon. This annual fee helps cover the cost of snacks and consumable materials used in the developmental preschool classroom.
Bussing Available
Westfield Washington School bussing is available and all related services will be available per individual IEP (speech, OT, etc.).
Curriculum
Developmental preschool utilizes Creative Curriculum along with the other classrooms in the Early Learning Center.
Developmental Preschool Co-teach
Program Eligibility & Details
Co-teach opportunities are available in the 3- and 4-year-old community preschool classrooms depending on student readiness. Typically classrooms would have 6-8 spots reserved for developmental preschool students. We follow the WWS district calendar and are closed on teacher work days, professional development days, school breaks, and weather related closure days.
Developmental Preschool Co-teach Plans & Weekly Fees
There are three options offered in the developmental preschool co-teach program:
- Dev PS Co-teach (Bus or Car) 1:45 Plan: 7:35 AM to 1:45 PM at $125 per week
- Dev PS Co-teach Extended Day 4:30 Plan: 7:35 AM to 4:30 PM at $175 per week
- Dev PS Co-teach Extended Day 5:30 Plan: 7:35 AM to 5:30 PM at $200 per week
Bussing Available for 8:00 AM - 2:10 PM Plan
Westfield Washington School bussing is available for the 8:00 AM - 2:10 PM plan only, and all related services will be available per individual IEP (speech, OT, etc.).
Curriculum
Developmental preschool utilizes Creative Curriculum along with the other classrooms in the Early Learning Center.
Food & Nutrition
Breakfast and a snack are included in the program fees. Families will set up a lunch account to cover lunch cost.
Additional Information
If there are challenges with payment or on-going behavior concerns, we may adjust the student's schedule to mornings only 8:00 to 10:45 AM or consider moving back to a developmental preschool classroom ensuring they can still receive their IEP services while we work together to find the best path forward.
